Life Time, a prominent national health club corporation, recognized the need to enhance its Kids Camp program.

As the Sr. User Experience Designer my objective was to eliminate two key challenges: the inconvenience associated with finding, registering, and paying for camps and addressing health, security, and logistical concerns in child care.

Framing the Challenge

 
 

➤ Manual Registration Hassles

Finding, registering, and paying for summer camps, which were traditionally only available at Life Time's physical locations, causing inconvenience and potential barriers to enrollment.

➤ Health, Security & Logistical Challenges

Addressing logistical challenges like drop-off, pick-up, health concerns, etc. were crucial for providing a safe and fun summer camp experience for both parents and children.

 
 

Approach

➤ Discover

Initiated comprehensive meetings with stakeholders from various departments to gather insights into the existing challenges and define the desired outcomes. Close collaboration with IT and Marketing teams ensured a holistic understanding of technical constraints and marketing strategies.

➤ Design

Conducted extensive user research, including interviews with team members and parents, to identify pain points and understand the specific needs and preferences of the target audience. Analyzed existing behavioral data to inform the design process.

➤ Deliver

Interactive prototypes were developed to simulate the user experience, facilitating usability testing. informed further refinements, ensuring optimal usability and addressing potential pain points.

 

Result

Introduction of an online platform allowed parents to seamlessly find, register, and pay for summer camps from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the previous constraints associated with physical locations.

➤ Streamlined Logistical Processes

The user-centric approach led to streamlined logistical processes for drop-offs and pickups, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience for parents while maintaining a heightened focus on child safety.

➤ Scaled Outcome

The successful implementation of the new e-commerce platform for summer camps yielded an unexpected benefit. Recognizing its versatility, the platform was leveraged for additional e-commerce framed projects, such as purchasing and scheduling sessions with personal trainers.
